F A Q
Where are you located?
In the Grand Rapids area, west of Alpine Avenue on Henze Road. For a map of our location, click here.
On July 3rd, the first sunday service at Family of Christ was held at it's new location at the new church building.
The address is 1100 Henze Rd. Comstock Park, MI 49321
What is your worship service like?
Our 10:30 am Sunday worship service is a contemporary service with guitars, drums, keyboard and voices (most of the time)! We do have a traditional service every Sunday at 8 am.
When do you have communion?
We have communion every Sunday, however it is offered every other week between the two services. In communion we believe that Christ's body and blood truly are present with the body and blood as one of God's means of grace, for our forgiveness, life, and salvation.
What kind of staff do you have?
We currently have an Specific Ministries Pastor (Phil Chaffee), Interim Pastor (Jim Eggert), and one secretary (Arlene Porter).
What are your plans for the future?
Our plans are to utilize our new building west of Alpine on Henze Road right behind Sam's Club, and to offer Word and sacrament to those needing it. And from there we hope to continue to grow God's Kingdom in this area!
How do I become a member?
About twice a year we have a period (normally 10 weeks) we go through a new member class for those who are interested in becoming members, where you can learn about what we believe, teach, and confess.
If I become a member, what is expected of me?
Because of all the things that God has done for us through His Son, Jesus Christ, we like to focus more on the Gospel than on the Law. As far as our expectations go, we do not have a laundry list of things expected of you. We certainly would love to see you every week in worship, we would certainly love to see you finding an area where you can serve by volunteering your time, but that is the work of the Holy Spirit in you to lead you to want to be active here.
